Round Three: Manny Pacquiao vs Erik Morales Mailbag!

By Kimo Morrison 1/31/2005:

Welcome to Round Three of the Manny Pacquiao vs Erik Morales Mailbag. The Third of many more mailbags to come. All questions will be answered so send yours in today!

Round One
Round Two

Mark: I think Pacman has all the advantages to win this SUPERBOUT.Coz Pacman is much faster and much stronger than the Mexican Hero. Of course EM is more experienced fighter than Pacman. But the problem here is EM cannot absorb all the punches of Pacman. Just like MAB. In the end pacman will prevail. And he will become the GREATEST FIGHTER in t6hat division. Tnx and God Bless...

Kimo Morrison:

He very well could take care of business the way you suggest and that is how I hope that it breaks down, but I would never compare Erik with Marco as far as being able to take a punch. They are two totally different men and I think that on any given night one could be stronger than the other.

Japeth: Paquiao will win cause he cant absorb the power of Erik Morales while Erik can stand with one devastating power of punch of Manny Paquiao...

Kimo Morrison:

okay.............????????

Aaron V: What division will the Pacman really choose in, is it the featherweight or the superfeatherweight? What if in the future he defeated Barrera & Marquez, can the Pacman have the championship belts in two different divisions?

Kimo Morrison:

No he can not hold two belts in two divisions...for long anyhow, I know that it can be done at least temporarily for Jones had the light heavy and the heavy at the same time. I will have to see how Pac does at this weight before I would venture to say if he stays or not.

Johnny Johnson: Who do you think has the better jab and chin?

Kimo Morrison:

Erik, and Erik...however I don't think that it will be Erik's chin that will be his demise, it will be running out of gas and then getting floored not to be able to get to his feet again as he has always been able to do before.

RIGOR: WHAT DO YOU THINK, WOULD BE MANNY ADVANTAGES IN FIGHTING ERIK?..ASIDE FROM BEING YOUNGER AND THE QUICKNESS.

Kimo Morrison:

I would say conditioning, and power as well.

Benny A. Antonio: Dear Sir, I have been an avid boxing fan ever since I can remember! I love fighters who really can fight, irrespective of their nationalities! I like Pacquiao against Morales. I just can not see any fighter-Mexican or otherwise beating the Pacman!
Sincerely,
Benny

Kimo Morrison:

Thank you for the good point.

Jon Ambas: During recent interviews with Freddie Roach, he mentioned that if Manny would use his right more I think he could be more devastating. I've seen this in Manny's previous fights. He also has a very stiff jab which I think would be very useful when he goes up against Erik. Erik has a good chin so Manny should use a lot of body shots or even double up with right hooks and uppercuts. Manny should not be a one dimensional fighter like what happened with the Marquez fight.

Kimo Morrison:

I completely agree with that statement sir! If Manny headhunts the way he did against Marquez, Erik will eat him for breakfast. However I don't believe that he will make that same mistake....but you never know until fight night now do you? LOL

Pepe: I'm thinking Manny's superior speed and power will be too much for Erik as it was for Marco. I don't think Erik will have any more luck adjusting to it as Marco did. Erik will stand in there and slug it out and will get nailed often though he will have some moments of his own. I see Manny getting a KO by the 9th round only because Erik is one tough hombre and won't just lay down. What's your thoughts?
Thanks,
Pepe

Kimo Morrison:

Exactly that my little stinky French buddy! You nailed it right on the head...other than I think the KO may come JUST A LITTLE bit later than that...

Dra: Everyone seems to forget the quality of a fighter Eric Morales is. Although I am a Pacman fan, it is pretty hard for me to be confident, the way others are, about this fight. I believe El Terrible has an advantage, but as also known, one punch on either side can win the match. Why doesn't anyone see this? The only thing for sure is the hype and the bout is and will be amazing.

Kimo Morrison:

Yes the bout will be AMAZING as I am sure that this is one of those that can not disappoint us as fans for sure! I do not forget myself that Erik is a valiant warrior and one of the best to ever get in the ring at his weights. As for me personally, I must make a choice and then stick too it and I have made mine. It really is a pick 'em type fight as Erik will come to do business as he always has and you are right sir, more Pac fans should not be so quick to over look Mr. Morales.

Dan Larios: I'm an avid boxing fan, and this fight is definitely heaven sent! I'm just hoping that this fight pushes through as scheduled. Win or lose, what will be the effect of the outcome for both of them, and whom should these two great fighters fight next?

Kimo Morrison:

That all depends on who wins the fight Dan, as far as I am concerned. Erik if he wins has a lot more options as far as opponents due the fact that he has a larger frame and can move up further to face different opposition than Pac will. I would not be surprised to see MAB fight either one of these men should they win. It is not unforeseen that MAB and Morales fight a forth time.

Darren Simion: You said that Erik would have the bigger punch in this division... if you were his coach, would you like it if he stand toe to toe against pac?

Kimo Morrison:

I said nothing of the sort...however Isaac may have...no I would never suggest that Erik go to war with Pac, he must use his feet and outside skills with his reach advantage to take this fight in my eyes. He must stay COMPLETELY away from warring with Pac-Man.

Chris: Both Pacquiao and Morales are great warriors and I believe come March 19, they will be both ready to rumble. But I think, the fighter that will land the very first BIG punch in the face will dictate the tempo of the bout and eventually win the fight since both of them are great knockout artists. It can go either way. I don't see Pacman or el terrible winning by decision

Kimo Morrison:

I do not see this going to the judges either. No matter who wins, I think it will be a fight that is either stopped by the ref or decisive punch that knocks the othe TFO!

Ken Nakamoto: Morales has the advantage in height, reach and experience. On the other hand, Pacquiao has the obvious advantage in power punch and speed.
Tyson, during his prime, was neither a skilled nor experienced boxer. He fought many battles against well known, taller, and experienced boxers yet he demolished them one by one, young and old, mainly because of his brute power.
If Morales,a knock out puncher in his own right, could not knock Pacquiao out in 3 rounds, it would be Pacquiao putting down Morales for good within the same rounds. This is because just like Tyson then, Pacquiao also has brute power in him.
This is indeed a classic fight to watch.

Kimo Morrison:

I don't think that for ANY reason this fight ends in three IMO, both of these men are true warriors and have too much heart and conditioning to not be able to get up in the 3rd. it will be a classic! Thank you for writing
