After devouring two “taco’s” Manny orders LARGE Mexi Fry!
Kimo Morrison - 1/15/2005
Too those who have called this the Pac-Man bandwagon I ask you this. If a fighter continues to improve his competition continuing to win in the wake of battle how far must he wage war before true talent is recognized for what it is? Must he too go out on his shield before those who claim to know boxing dare step into reality noticing that this man is not just a draw but a true warrior with skills yet unmatched in his recent rise. Has he lost? Yes, but all great fighters willing to put their record aside and fight for the love of the game are bound to fight and lose. These are the throw back fighters. The fighters of yesteryear, the fighters that are now remembered as Legends due to the fact that they fought no matter how they felt that day or night. Manny is one of the few that fight anytime anywhere and if not structured by the modern political bullshit in today’s boxing world would probably fight 15-20 times a year. Now though the networks must make the most off of each fight promoting them until we are brainwashed into buying no matter how ugly the card, thus limiting what we as fans could ultimately see if we were to just let fighters fight!
What makes me sick about this type of fight is this…bear with me this may take a second to explain…take a fighter who keeps moving up in weight beating top opponents on the way. It is thought of him that he was always meant to be there and thus he is just showing his hidden potential and “obvious” fight weight. But when a man who sits at one weight and continues to beat all comers even if they have just moved up HE is thought of as a fighter who never really beat a fighter at his own weight. Picking on the little guys. Now this brings a dilemma for those with this mentality. Take a guy like Pac…who is jumping more like a bean than rice to follow the other beans… if he loses will he be remembered for being a great fighter who bit off more than he could chew in following a fighter who is now at his “obvious” weight? Or will Eric be thought of as a fighter that picked on a small guy and won only because of the once again “obvious” size differential? Flip flop that with Pac being the victor. Will he be thought of as a unveiled talent claiming new repore with those whose eyes have now been opened with Eric being the washed up veteran warrior who fought one too many battles? Where will Morales stand in the wake of defeat now? To a much smaller man who has not the “talent” to be in with such a technician. He will forever be thought of as overrated. Shameful but true.
Both men going into this battle are proven to be where they are and both men have beaten the best in any certain division. No maybe not all of the best due to politics but “THE” best. (Oh God how I pray for just one belt again!) Can for once we just have a fight between two fighters who are FOR NOW IN THIS TIME AT THE SAME WEIGHT and enjoy it for what it is barring all excuses for whom ever comes out the loser? I hope so. For this I promise to make NO excuse for my man if he loses but will take none in return from the opposition if their man should happen to fall on the battle field. With that here is my call on the fight.
I see this fight starting off faster than any Eric Morales have ever waged war in. When going to war previously he has always had a warm up period. On this night warming up may mean cooling off in a hurry. Now you all can say that Pac is a one dimensional fighter after how Juan Marquez “exposed” him as it is so commonly put by those who know shit and can barely remember last weekend let alone 3 fights ago for Pac-Man. If you all remember Pac fought and beat a P4P top fighter in Marco Antonio Barrera. In that fight his knock out came VERY late in the game and he brought that KO with the skill of a truly deep technical fighter. As well as the conditioning, focus and determination of a crack head on a mission for his next fix. He BROKE Barrera down through good body work and an absolute barrage of arsenal. The only reason I believe for his single dimensional head hunting trip with JMM was merely the fact that he knocked the man down three times in one round. With that type of confidence built in his own mind, Roach could say anything he wanted too and all Pac knew was –One more and he’s done-. All be it exciting in the first, it ruined any chance we had of seeing Pac work as a multi-dimensional fighter that given night. That all being said, Pac will win this one knocking out an over confident Eric Morales late in the fight. With him coming so fast early it will wear down Morales much earlier than he is used too, I believe that Morales though has the chin to hang in early not seeing lights early which will force Manny to realize that he is in the fight for the long haul. This will not give him the overconfidence of a one punch knock out and allow him to show all doubters that he belongs in the ring with the veteran Morales. He will have the advantage early, and then late as well as Eric ALWAYS drives till he’s JUST about out of gas. Pac on the other hand has more than one reserve tank. If you think that MAB’s hand speed gave Eric problems he has yet to face blinding combinations like those he will face against a far from “one dimensional” fighter.
Pacquio knocks out Eric for the first time ever in a stunning “upset” victory late in the Championship rounds!!!
